In helping to provide new opportunities for young talented people in Wales, Sport Wales’ has utilised the skills and expertise of Create Development to deliver training and resources for their ‘Sport Accelerate pilot.’ Sport Accelerate is helping to identify, support and develop 10 and 11 year olds who are more able and talented in sport, by providing 12 weeks of sessions that will develop a higher level of physical skills but also challenge children’s creative, personal, social, and thinking skills. The pilot has also been awarded InspireMark, which recognises exceptional and innovative projects as part of the London 2012 Games.
“As part of the pilot Create Development designed a baseline assessment tool and delivered the training and resources for the organisers and deliverers. Feedback forms from the courses attended all received exceptionally good feedback! In addition to this, the pilots are also utilising Create’s ‘Accelerating Abilities’ online tool to look at the impact the sessions are having on individuals and the group over a number of weeks. An independent evaluation will help to inform where the pilot goes next.”
