FUNS for everyone
‘Just a quickie to say that I tried out the yellow cards with our very low ability (spld, mld, asd + 1 wheelchair) Year 10 group this morning – they loved it. I stripped it right back to the bare bones of balancing and by the end of the session they were all able to balance on different parts. The best bit was that when asked, they said they felt they’d learnt how to balance properly and maintain it. I incorporated this into our dance lesson and it became the main focus for their sequence – which was 10 times better than last weeks’. The cards were a brilliant visual focus for them (and me) and I could very easily identify who needed to be pushed or needed time.’ (Claire, Clare Mount School)
‘Just wanted to say what a fantastic day I’ve had. It’s Friday night and unusually, I can’t wait to get into school and try out some of the activities we have been doing on the course today. It is just what I need for my year 3′s and I know they will enjoy it. It has also made me rethink how I teach in other subjects too and how I can make it more skills based and fun.’ (Gaye, Primary Teacher)
‘…what a fantastic course! Can’t stop thinking about it. Would like all the teachers to go on it throughout the year- it will totally change the way i teach my class this year!’ (Wendy, Primary Teacher)
‘I ran a swimming skills clinic at the weekend… aimed at 8-11 year olds. I used the FUNS cards in the land session in a stations format … The kids loved it and were very competitive and said they enjoyed it much more than what they had done previously. It was really easy to relate the card content to the skills work they were doing in the pool and they could easily make the connection’ (Level 4 Swimming Coach & Coach Education Coordinator, Academy of Sport, London South Bank University)
‘Many thanks for your work today. The PLTs thoroughly enjoyed it and the evaluations were very positive. A few of the comments on the evaluations: ‘A brilliant presenter’, ‘Excellent delivery’ , ‘Ronnie Heath was brilliant’, ‘An enjoyable session’, ‘Great day – Thank you’, ‘Fab delivery – the best yet!’ (Matt, PDM)
‘Once again you delivered a quality session, we spoke to the leaders afterwards and they were spell bound with the session and buzzing to get involved in the delivery around the multi-skills program we are delivering.’ (Ian, PDM)
‘I learnt the real importance of fundamental delivery for all age groups and that the resource lends itself easily to differentiation and personalised learning’ (FUNS Delegate)
Raising the Bar
Persuasive Presentations
‘I have to admit I was sceptical about attending at first…However, on reflection, it was well worthwhile. The thought of being put outside your comfort zone is daunting enough but to have to deliver a presentation in front of 12 like-minded people plus a panel of 3 (including you) topped it all! Since returning I have had to lead 1 or 2 meetings. The first thing I now consider, which I know was not a priority before, is what do they (the people I’m meeting with) need to hear? What do they want out of this? Whilst I felt confident enough in putting my own aims forward, I certainly wasn’t considering those of other people and I am grateful to you for making me aware of this. Many thanks for a great couple of days’ Jane (SSCo)
‘The biggest thing that I noticed was that at the end of a conference … the delegates were in no rush to go. So many of them went up to every facilitator to hug/ kiss/ thank them. It was like when you leave a wedding and have to do the rounds saying goodbye to all your friends. This sold it for me. They had bonded so well. The fact that it really challenged them was great and it wasn’t the usual listening and falling asleep at the back like conferences sometimes are’ Kelly (Senior Competition Manager)
‘Firstly thanks again for a great couple of days, I learnt loads, gained in confidence and feel much better equipped to tackle the issues and obstacles which come with the job of SSCo’ (James, SSCo)
‘Just wanted to say thank you to you and your team for the SSCo conference last week. I thought it was thoroughly enjoyable and I feel I gained a lot from the two days…’ (Darren, SSCO)
‘Just a few words of thanks to you and your colleagues for putting on a well presented and informative programme of activities. I very much enjoyed the experience and look forward to attending future events’ (Warren, SSCo)
‘I must say I loved every minute and though only observing I felt very welcome… speaking with people on the last day they, like myself, loved it all. I even asked for any negative feedback because I was not getting any but there was none.’ (Bryan Steel, Olympic Silver Medalist, Dame Kelly Holmes Legacy Trust)
‘Just a very quick email to thank you all for providing an excellent couple of days delivery for us here in Somerset. I know an enormous amount of learning took place and that is down to your excellent support and facilitation.’ (Rob PDM)
