In August 2010 Coaching Northants successfully appointed its second multi skills coach as part of its continual dedication to increasing the delivery of high quality Physical Education throughout the county.
The successful applicant, Dave Baldwin, delivered an exceptional multi skills session based around hand and eye co-ordination during the interview process. When asked about his session plan he contributed his successful session to two things; his years of experience and support from Create Development’s FUNS and Raising the bar training workshops and resource packs. Further to this Dave said:
‘The FUNS & Raising the Bar training and courses have brought a whole new dimension to my coaching. They have really highlighted to me that coaching is not simply about physical activity and through my work I have the ability to develop the whole child. The resources provides me with an excellent base to plan my sessions so that I can use physical activities to explore and challenge other aspects of my participants such as their social skills, their creativity and their thought process. Overall I love the resource, it’s simple to use and brings out the best in children’.
Coaching Northants have recognised the value of Create Development resources and fund all of its curriculum coaches to undertake the FUNS and Raising the Bar training as standard.

Coaching Northants currently delivers over 750 coaching hours per month throughout Northamptonshire with over 60% of these being delivered through the SSP network. The majority of this has been within curriculum time centred around multi skills in which FUNS and Raising the Bar has been adopted as the session plan base. This has been extremely well received throughout schools in Northamptonshire with PDM’s, SSCO’s and teachers realising the worth and importance in developing the whole child.
