MEETING THE CHALLENGE What Swindon SSP did… |
CREATE’S IMPACT Take a look at the difference Create made… |

8 individual schools (and 1 cluster of schools) indicated they wanted to develop their PE delivery and were prepared to devote valuable whole school inset time. These were: Eastrop Infant, Tregoze Primary, Greenmeadow Primary, Bishopstone Primary, Haydonleigh Primary, Beechcroft Infant, Grange Infant, South Marston Primary and the Swindon Academy Cluster. Swindon SSP approached Ronnie Heath, Create’s Managing Director and Lead Tutor to tutor the sessions using fundamentals and multi-skills as the basis for the inset. Multi-skills are the core movement skills (agility, balance and co-ordination) that underpin performance in all sports and compliment the delivery of all areas of the PE curriculum. “He explained the difference between just teaching skill and enabling children to participate fully through core skills development” (Bishopstone). “We have written a new scheme of work based on fundamentals and implemented it across the whole school (Eastrop).

“The staff loved Ronnie – it was a big success” (Beechcroft Infants) “As a result of increased confidence of our staff-we have increased our curriculum PE time” (Beechcroft Infants) “Multi-skills are now fully implemented throughout the whole school” (Greenmeadow) “Our skills audit show that the children are building on their movement skills and they seem more confident” (Eastrop) “Some of the staff running after-school clubs are now using the principles of multi-skills-as are MDSAs in the playground” (Swindon Academy Cluster) “The children are really enjoying it!” (Greenmeadow) “Our external coaches have commented on the increased ability of the pupils attending clubs” (Eastrop) “Staff have commented that it has made them very positive about teaching PE and about their own ability” (Grange Infants)
