Providing and maintaining extra-curricular clubs and health based interventions is a huge challenge for schools. The rewards are worth it though, with the best programmes promoting life-long participation in activities as well as increasing self-esteem and belonging. By including parents and carers, schools have the opportunity to engage with families. Not only are the children more supported but parents and carers are too - meaning families can grow and develop together!
Family FUNS
Family FUNS is a fun and engaging programme aimed at accelerating the development of the fundamental movement skills of children, actively involving a parent or carer to work alongside their child, under the support and guidance of a trained deliverer.

A key focus of the programme is the personal and social development of the children combined with increasing theconfidence and activity levels of parent and carers.
Alongside physical improvement, ‘Family FUNS’ aims to the increase the self-esteem of the children, build determination and resilience, improve their ability to cooperate and work well with others and ultimately encourage them to take greater responsibility for their own activity and learning.
Family FUNS can be aimed at engaging families with children in Early Years, in Key Stages 1 and 2, and families with young people with disabilities.
